So christmas has been survived again, thankyou to all who tried to kill me with food and drink over the festy season.

 As I lie in bed considering the beginning of a new year and my impending 30th birthday the wind rages outside in a fittingly apocolyptic way. I'm never fond of New Years - which seems to be full of the desperate urge to shed the seaweed of the year and look foward with a frenzied optimisim that will be dashed as the light of January first starts to hurt your hungover eyes on its long march to giving your brain a good kicking.

So instead I've decided to look at reasons to be cheerful about 2008 from a pop-cultural perspective.

Pushing out beyond the web 2.0 apps that everyone loves so much and foraying back into the distant past of the early '00s I've decided that I need a blog. No more fucking travelling bears and chain letters, no more people I don't care to phone or see often sharing photos of their children - nope just shit that I think is cool. So there it is my first post - only seven years behind the zeitgeist...
